![]() Not saying the game is great, theres certainly stuff I would critique (like they probably left out teleporting between checkpoints just to extend playtime since the game is so limited in scope, the confusing and same looking HUB area that way gives you the initial illusion of exploring when in fact it´s just one small area with a convoluted layout for instance, stuff like that ) just saying I personaly did enjoy the combat.Microsoft’s hotline when it comes to exciting additions to Xbox Game Pass, unsurprisingly, went on sale in November. On a casual level ofc, I haven´t done any crazy challenge runs or anything. I got a couple of thousand hours between the actual Dark Souls games alone for what it´s worth. I´ve played and completed Demons Souls, all dark souls with expansions, surge 1&2,Nioh+dlc,Bloodborne+dlc ,Lords of the fallen and probably some others soulslikes that I forgotten. 10-15 hours at most with new game after that.Īlot shorter than I thought it would be, I knew it wouldn´t be DS lengt but I read ca 20 hours.I expect to complete it in about 10. Not so much exploring to do though, just three dungeons and one hub area I think. I found the combat exellent, very unique feel within the souls type space. You can´t play it like DS with block and poke though. I started playing the game yesterday and I`ve already done two dungeons. If they adjust the game to compensate for sluggish combat then I am interested otherwise it was a waste of money. The devs should have scaled back the enemy health or increased player damage/survival to compensate for the sluggish combat. This is like a small company thinking they are a big company and making decisions beyond their reach. In a souls game combat must be tight and since it is not in this game then the game is a major failure. I guess what I am saying is the combat engine lacks consistency and reliability. Dark Souls gives you a chance to win with developing your skill, this game has no flow for skill, its combat too clunky to develop skills to master because the timing you develop for that parry will be different the very next fight with the same enemy because something will through the combat timing off yet its the exact same fight. This game manages to remove the element of FUN and instead makes the game a chore. A souls game can be frustrating but it is actually a FUN experience. It takes over 5 minutes to fight a boss because you do so little damage and you must fight this thing numerous times. Everything is perfectly timed in a souls combat game, this game is near impossible to play because they overload you against enemies, provided limited healing, expect you to time parry with combat that is very sluggish so on, they need to either reduce enemy health/numbers or increase player damage. My main pain is the game is a hard souls game with sluggish combat, that cannot be possible. #Mortal shell game pass series#The ones that did it better, Nioh 1 and 2, The Surge 1 and 2, even devil may cry series has better combat. This game on the other hand has just the right amount of delay and feedback, that gives combat almost the same punching weight as soulsbornes. They mostly all feel like you're some kind of LARPer swinging a piece of cardboard around. Mortal Shell managed to emulate souls game combat better than any other souls-like i've played so far. Originally posted by JellyPuff:It's very similiar to Dark Souls though. Ps: this isnt even all the stuff that grates me I just dont feel like sharing anymore #Mortal shell game pass how to#I dont know how to make my experience more bearable and really want to like this game but just cant considering there are tens of mobs between checkpoints / bosses in a new game this is a real problem. unfortunatley a lot of monster straight one shot the thief. I watched a guide to get all shells, liked thief the best. Once again weapon does no damage and I have to repeat this really boring pattern for like 5 minutes. with starting class I go in do some damage block incoming damage with harden backup wait for harden to comeback repeat. The best combat moments are the bosses since those fights are one on one but I personally find the ones I tried/completed really boring. hit once or twice back up/ regen stamina - this takes foreverĪreas within the 4 games levels are very similar looking and close to devoid of any distinguishing feature which makes navigation a nightmare. Pull a mob of several, back up split them up to be able to fight 1 on 1. this makes exploring a slog and not a fun one. any enemy in the game about 3-4 or less shots starting character. they almost always come in packs of 2-3-4-5+. the weakest of the monsters take 3 hits most many more. The starting weapon feels like I am hitting any mob with a wet noodle. I cannot for some reason choose my starting shell/class/weapon and I strongly dislike the way the starting knight plays ![]()
